Esco Adjustable Backrest 8023-SD, also referred to as the rest-cure, is a medical treatment in which a person lies in bed for most of the time to try to cure an illness. Bed rest refers to voluntarily lying-in bed as a treatment and not being confined to bed because of a health impairment which physically prevents leaving bed. Many people associate a bed backrest with nursing profiling beds whether they be for medical or domestic environments.  However, backrests are not just part of an integrated bed but can be stand-alone accessories, used on any standard domestic bed.

For people with back pain bed rest has previously been recommended. Bed rest, however, is less beneficial than staying active. As a treatment for low back pain, bed rest should not be used for more than 48 hours. For people who need to have their meal on bed. Whether this is occasionally or regularly it is important to understand how the swallowing muscles work effectively. There is a lot of research evidence to show that the musculature involved in swallowing works more effectively and efficiently when at an angle greater than 30 degrees.   3. If the person is unable to lift their hips, help the person turn to the side.
  4. Gently press the bedpan against their buttocks and then help them turn back onto the bedpan.
  5. Ensure you hold the bedpan in position and help the person roll of the bedpan then carefully place the bed pan to a side.
  6. If the user is able to lift their own hips initially then when they are finished ask the person to raise their hips again and remove the bedpan.
  7. Remember if you can leave the person alone safely once you have initially placed the bedpan under, then leave the room to give them privacy.
  8. If the person needs assistance wiping, then help them do so.
  9. Then empty the bedpan into a toilet.
  10. Clean the bedpan as recommended on the packaging or in line with additional information given.

How To Use

  1. Sit down and rest for 5 minutes before measurement.
  2. Turn on the Blood Pressure Machine.
  3. Then, make sure your arm is placed nicely.
  4. After that, put on the cuff on your upper left arm.
  5. Next, adjust the cuff but not too tight or too loose.
  6. Now, press the start button.
  7. Then, sit quietly before and during monitoring process. However, both feet must be uncrossed on floor with arm relax and back straight.
  8. Lastly, record your BP Reading.
  9. Repeat 2 to 3 readings to get an average result.
