  1. Sprinkle baby powder on the edge of the bedpan to make it easier to slide under the person.

  3. If the person is unable to lift their hips, help the person turn to the side.
  4. Gently press the bedpan against their buttocks and then help them turn back onto the bedpan.
  5. Ensure you hold the bedpan in position and help the person roll of the bedpan then carefully place the bed pan to a side.
  6. If the user is able to lift their own hips initially then when they are finished ask the person to raise their hips again and remove the bedpan.
